We are in Hong Kong - home to some fantastic bargains. Fake name-brand goods are illegal here but readily available at the night markets. Some places have them openly on display - others have pictures of them on easily folded up posters.
We were looking at handbags when Leslie mentioned out loud she was looking for a "Coach". Immediately there was a guy at her side with some for sale. When Leslie raised her voice to tell me he had Coach, he immediately shushed her.
He led us down the back side walk of the market about a block away to an unlabeled doorway and started taking us upstairs. Mildly concerned, I followed the two of them up the stairs. after the second flight, I started to worry, and the alarm bells really reached a crescendo on the fourth floor. I wondered if I should keep following Leslie or wait outside to bring in the police to rescue her from the white slavery ring.
He took us through two locked doors into a room with designer bags of all kinds on the shelves and three sales girls ready to help us pick out a Prada, Hermes, Louis Vutton, Gucci or Coach bag.
I started to sweat, wondering if they would let us out if Leslie didn't buy anything....
