And it was a beautiful sight to behold! Twenty five minutes of artistry by the Canadian team as the fireworks burst over a boat filled English Bay.The HSBC Festival of Lights is held in Vancouver every year. While Canada won the past two years, China won the people's choice in 2008. This year South Africa and the United Kingdom are also competing.
As it was a weeknight, the crowds and the amount of marijuana in the air were much less than we've experienced previously. Alcohol use was high as the Police reported well over a hundred "alcohol pours" during the evening.
I'm not sure which intoxicant was the choice of a gentleman behind us, but about every third blast he would (very loudly) exclaim - "Wahoo - yeah", as if he had forgotten what he was watching and was surprised anew with each boom.
The fireworks were spectacular, especially the 12 second finale!
