The Perfect Nap

I do not sleep well. Those of you who know me are laughing at this understatement. My lovely Naturopathic Doctor encouraged (more like ordered) me to nap freely on vacation. I've tried but today was only my third nap.

The perfect nap occurs just after lunch around 1 pm. A slightly overcast day fills my room with diffuse light and makes it just cool enough to require a light blanket. Quiet surrounds my bedroom (no calls of "Mom, where's the...") as I snuggle on my left side with a slight breeze ruffling my hair.

Using the above as my gold standard, today's nap doesn't make the cut. It was 32 degrees Celsius and highly humid. At 2 pm I lay down, all hot and sticky as the sun beat down on the trailer. First Lobster suggested a romantic liaison. My snort was a sufficiently negative answer. I sprawled on my back, carefully arranging my limbs so there was absolutely NO chance of any skin surfaces touching. Numerous cars, big trucks and very loud motorbikes were traveling on a nearby road and the train went by a couple of times. Not up to par with the perfect nap.

You know how a bad day on vacation is still better than a good day at work? Well, naps are the same - even a bad one is a good one!

What's your idea of a perfect nap?
