Well, I am currently in Miami and last night I walked on the wild side...
I took the bus and metro train from the airport to my hotel - traveling all by myself, I thought it would be far more adventurous (and cheaper) than a taxi ride. If you've traveled anywhere you know how strange it is...after spending quite a few hours in the air, when you land in a new place the traffic seems so frantic. So, as the bus is furiously hurtling through traffic I finally loosen my grip on the safety rail to have a look around...
As a Canadian, the stereotype I have of many of the big US cities is that aren't as safe as my own little city, that somehow BAD THINGS might happen to me. I start to notice the neighborhoods along the expressway and every single house has bars on all the windows. At first I chalk it up to being a rough neighborhood, but it keeps on happening. By the time I have to get off the bus and onto the rapid transit bus I am starting to get a bit concerned.
The train is elevated over the traffic and looks a bit....old. Safety doesn't seem to be a big priority as the elevated platform just seems to open over the road.

The train is clean and gets me through town quickly. Even at 5:15 pm though it is quite empty.
I am at the hotel for all of 10 minutes before I shuck off my jeans and head for the beach, and since this is Miami, that means...South Beach.
I hopped my chicken white, Canadian winter skin into the ocean and it was as warm as a bath - it was fabulous. Although, when it was time to come out I was worried about being wet and cold...its 32 blinking degrees here - what a stupid thought!!!!
Since I hadn't spent a lot of time packing for the beach, I ended up walking along the street with all the nightclubs without ANY underwear on.....not just panties, no bra either...so here I was with the girls swinging freely in public...which is as close to "walking on the wild side" as I've gotten so far....stay tuned!

Actually - in the above picture the girls are free and I don't have anything on the bottom - so technically - that was extra wild!
