Where is the Wind Blowing?

Ever wonder what the difference is between a typhoon and a hurricane? No? Well too bad cause that's the subject of useless factoid Friday, courtesy of Liam - who is turning 14 today. Apparently I'm not smarter than an 8th grader!

A typhoon and a hurricane are both tropical cyclones. Hurricanes are in the Atlantic Ocean and typhoons are in the Pacific Ocean. The winds in the storm must be greater than 74 miles/hr for the storm to be a hurricane or a typhoon.

Of course, when I start screaming at Liam for leaving his dirty socks all over the house - that's a tornado because it is over land, not water.
